How many of you have heard of the "American Dream" ever been talked about or heard in history class? Is it a myth, no... you can chase after becoming rich, living a good life here in America, and see your kids grow up to be what they want. It comes with hard work, sacrifice, and chasing after the goals you believe will accomplish what you want!
Is this what Christians are supposed to chase after? I would have to say... NO! Can we be accomplished and have money? Of course! The question is how much of chasing becomes an idol and not a blessing? Chasing after the American Dream comes with sacrifices that can affect our family, it can take away our time, it can change us into men who only seek power and happiness... but they lose their families because they are never around. Casting Crowns wrote a song 10 years ago about what the American Dream could turn into because of sacrifice for money and "happiness"
Take a moment to listen/watch this song... What I am hoping whoever is reading will understand that you need to provide, and some of you have to work long hours but remember that your family needs you just as much. DO NOT let time slip away from leading your family, from becoming warriors of God, from being there for those you love, and so much more! Having everything will mean nothing if you lose it all! My uncle died last night... he chased after money and women all his life... at the end he accepted Jesus, but he squandered his life for what he could get from money. He had no wife, no kids, and had no one to give all his work. Is it worth it? Please check out my podcast:
